Dental implant timelines explained simply

Consultation, placement, integration, and final crown — plus what can lengthen the plan and how fees are staged.

Dental implants are staged. Understanding the timeline helps you plan time off work, healing, and budget — without surprise “from” prices later.

Typical stages

  1. Consultation and imaging — clinical exam, 3D planning where needed, and a written fee outline.
  2. Placement — the implant is placed in bone; a temporary tooth may be fitted the same day in some cases.
  3. Integration — weeks to months while bone bonds to the implant.
  4. Final crown — colour-matched restoration and long-term cleaning advice.

What can change the timeline

Bone grafting, smoking, healing speed, and whether you need temporary teeth all affect how long treatment takes. We quote grafting separately if imaging shows it is needed.
