Your new patient examination at Riverside is designed to give a clear picture of your oral health and a plan you understand — without rushing or pressure to book treatment on the day.

Who this visit is for

Ideal if you are new to the practice, returning after a long break, or wanting a second opinion before starting cosmetic or orthodontic care. We welcome adults and children (children’s visits can be arranged with Dr Hughes).

What happens at your first visit

1. Health and history review — medications, allergies, and any previous dental experiences that matter to you.
2. Clinical examination — teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissues, with time for questions as we go.
3. Imaging when needed — small radiographs only if recent films are unavailable and they will change the plan.
4. Written recommendations — priorities, options, and transparent fees for any follow-up care.

What to bring

• A list of current medications and medical conditions
• Recent dental X-rays or reports, if you have them
• Dental insurance or payment plan details, if relevant
• Notes on what you want to discuss (sensitivity, appearance, a broken tooth)

After your appointment

You leave with a clear summary. Urgent issues are prioritised; elective options such as whitening or aligners can be planned once your mouth is healthy. Many patients book hygiene or a review at reception before they leave.
